Goodiebox, October unboxing

2013-10-goodiebox

I joined Goodiebox a few months back and so far have been pretty happy with what I’ve got.

What is Goodiebox? It’s a subscription service where you pay a monthly fee to receive a box of beauty products delivered to your door. The cost is around $30 a month (including delivery), and for that you will get a minimum of five “premium” beauty samples. These samples are generous sizes, and often there are a few full-sized products in your little box of goodies.

There are heaps of Goodiebox “unboxing” videos on YouTube, but I prefer surprises so try to avoid those videos … I was a kid who never shook my Christmas pressies to try to guess what was in there and I’m much the same with this!

So instead of an unboxing video, I’ll review the products I got last month (now that I’ve had some time to try them out).

Each month has a theme, and for October it was Sweet Rejuvenation. Here’s the rundown on my October goodies. Click on the links for full reviews of the products.

AUSTRALIS BLACKEST BLACK EYE PENCIL (RRP $14); this was a full-size product so value was $14:
I don’t normally use eye pencils but I’ll give this a go. Looks OK, and in a good, safe colour that most people will use.

SAVIQ BEE VENOM MIST TONER (RRP $26.95 for 150ml); this was a full-sized product so value was $26.95:
Says on the card that this as a toner after cleansing or to set makeup. Smells amazing (manuka honey).

BARRY M LIP PAINT (RRP $15); this was a full-sized product so value was $15:
A cute wee bright pink lippy … not a colour I’d normally wear but I’ll give it a go!

KIRI MANUKA HONEY CLEANSING SOAP (RRP $7.90 for 125g bar);sample was 70g so value was approx $4.40:
According to the enclosed card, this NZ-made soap is good for sensitive skin … which sounds like me. A generous sample size so I’ll be able to have a decent crack at using it.

KIRI MANUKA HONEY BODY LOTION (RRP $15 for 250ml); two sachet samples provided so value less than $1:
Dinky wee sachets … the smallest offering in the box this month.

KIRI MANUKA HONEY FACE MOISTURISER(RRP $19.90 for 70ml); sample was 30ml so value was approx $8.50:
Another one that smells yummy! A little tube of moisturiser. Tried rubbing some between my fingers and it felt a little greasy, but we’ll see.

LE TAN IN LE CAN (RRP $18.99 for 150g);  sample was 45g so value was approx $5.70:
Meh, fake tan. Not really my thing but I guess you can’t please everybody!

TOTAL VALUE: approx $75

So there you have it. There were seven products included in the October Goodiebox, which is pretty good. In fact, eight if you count the wee bonus lifestyle sample they chucked in: Bloom hot chocolate mix. There were two sachets in there but I was a good diabetic and didn’t go near them. The blokes of the house, however, did take them for a test drive and both said they were very tasty.
