Lord of the dance

So, Tim’s finished his reign as the lord of the dance.

As I sat at work on Sunday night enduring the agonising wait along with everyone else, listening to the metallic beeps of assorted cellphones being notified of counted votes (and the deafening silence of those who never received any comforting beeps), I couldn’t help but wonder what the rest of the world would make of all this.

First we have All Blacks wearing eyeliner, now it’s Kiwi blokes getting on their frilly shirts and shaking their groove thangs in a tasteful and sophisticated manner. Bugger that, Kiwi blokes are meant to be gruff, a bit scruffy and incapable of knowing their arias from their elbow.

I had another look at the Trade Me message board and wasn’t surprised to see the first GO TIM thread of the evening was started by a fan from Blenheim and he or she was quickly joined by Tim fans from throughout the country. I guess there’s not much more to say now. Except, GO NORM! I realise Shane Cortese probably has a few fans out there but do we really want a pretty boy like that taking the gong?

Perhaps there’s an opening for him in the All Blacks.
