Reviews and info on girly stuff I’ve been buying lately. Get your mind out of the gutter … not THAT kind of girly stuff.

Sebamed Anti Dry Derma-soft Wash Emulsion

Sebamed Anti Dry Derma-soft Wash Emulsion

This creamy emulsion is pH balanced, making it great for sensitive skin. It isn’t strongly perfumed like some cleansers, and is really quite gentle: no stinging or redness after use with this one. It does a good job of cleansing the skin and has no drying effects. However, while I found it hard to fault on performance, it is no better than Cetaphil but the price tag is quite a lot steeper (for around...

Manicare Invigorating Sponge

Manicare Invigorating Sponge

A basic sponge with a textured fabric cover, thisĀ  “Invigorating Sponge” is supposed to be good for regular shower or bath use to exfoliate all over. I know the experts say exfoliation is a good thing but I’m afraid I always end up feeling like I’ve been sanded, but this one was nearly user-friendly. With the promise of improved circulation and “glowing soft skin”, I gave this a try. I’ve been treading very gently,...

Carol Priest cherry lip balm

Carol Priest cherry lip balm

I’ve never been a great fan of cherry-flavoured anything so wasn’t overly enthusiastic about trying this. However, I gave it a shot and have to say that flavour-wise, it wasn’t totally disgusting. In fact, it was almost inoffensive. Unfortunately, the balm is quite greasy to start with, then disappears rather quickly. Stick with Chapstick. CAROL PRIEST Cherry Lip Balm (RRP $17.50 for 10ml)

SEBAMED Anti Dry Derma-soft Wash Emulsion (RRP $20.40 for 200ml); 20ml sample bottle so $2.40 value: Sebamed had a good reputation so I’m keen to try this. Roberto Cavalli Acqua

Roberto Cavalli Acqua

At first squirt I really didn’t like this: it was really strong and sharp. However, after a few minutes it settled down and left a fragrance that was lovely and fresh. It has jasmine and lily of the valley for the floral notes, mixed in with a touch of musk. The end result is a perfume that is really nice. And at $85, it’s pretty good value for a “designer” fragrance. Plus it’s nice...

Manhattan double loop lip liner

Manhattan double loop lip liner

This nifty little critter from Manhattan is a lip liner with a built-in lip gloss. Or is it a lip gloss with a built-in lip liner pencil? Either way, you get one of each with this product, which was included in my March GoodieBox. I got a deeper shade than the lip cream from last month: this time it’s more of a berry tone. It smells just as good though and the gloss actually...

Awesome ducking bags

The last Louis Vuitton catalogue that arrived in my letter box was so cute, I took some photos and thought I’d share the awesomeness. Of course, that was months ago and I’m only just getting around to sharing them now because I’m a bit slack. Anyway, here they are!

Jemma Kidd Tone-on-Tone Duo

Jemma Kidd Tone-on-Tone Duo

This is a cream to powder eye shadow in a compact with two complementing shades. The colours provided were neutral enough to suit anyone of any age (Silk, according to the compact), so I was pretty happy about that. The compact itself is has a mirror in the lid and is small enough to tuck into your makeup bag. The shadow goes on smoothly and looks nice on: the colours aren’t overpowering but have...

Angel Helichrysum Revitalising shampoo & conditioner

Angel Helichrysum Revitalising shampoo & conditioner

Samples from the Angel II Provence range were included in the March GoodieBox andĀ  while I’m not a fan of getting little foil sachets in this monthly subscription package, I was pretty happy with the results from this product. In fact, when my current supplies of Redken shampoo and conditioner are gone, I’ll probably go buy the Helichrysum Revitalising shampoo and conditioner s as a replacement. A bonus of my new, rather short hair,...

Aveda Hand Relief

Aveda Hand Relief

This was OK, but not earth-shatteringly good. It felt a little greasy when I first applied it but did eventually absorb quite well. At first, the smell struck me as a bit medicinal but the more I’ve used it, the more the smell has grown on me. More importantly, I like the way my hands have felt after using it: clean, smooth and soft. And at first glance, $15 seems quite a reasonable price,...
