Goodiebox, April unboxing

2014-04-goodieboxThe April theme was “Beautiful Rituals” and the box came with three full-sized products and four samples.

Here’s the rundown on my April goodies. Click on the links for full reviews of some products.

SEBAMED Anti Dry Derma-soft Wash Emulsion (RRP $20.40 for 200ml); 20ml sample bottle so $2.40 value: Sebamed had a good reputation so I’m keen to try this. It’s meant to be good for dry and sensitive skin, so here’s hoping!.

BIORE Ultra Deep Cleansing Pore Strips (RRP $14.95 for 14 strips); 2 strips supplied so $2.13 value: Bog standard pore cleansing strips (or as I prefer to call them: “pain-inflicting bastards). Usual story here…wet skin, apply strip, wait for it to dry the rip the fecker off. Gently, according to the instructions. No matter how gently you go with these things, there’s always pain, redness and irritation. You’d do just as well by stretching a strip of packing tape across your nose and ripping it off. I won’t be trying these.

MANICARE Invigorating Sponge (RRP $9.99); full-sized product supplied so $9.99 value: A bath/shower sponge with a textured cover to help with exfoliation. I’ll give it a go and will report back.

SEBAMED Anti Dry Defence Day Cream (RRP $22.50 for 50ml); 10ml sample bottle so $4.50 value: Another Sebamed product, this time a moisturise to apply to damp skin.

ELEVEN Miracle Hair Treatment (RRP $32 for 125ml); 5ml sample so $1.53 value: Apparently this one’s great for stressed tresses … something I’ve had a problem with since the heart condition turned up. I’ve had a deep conditioning treatment at my local salon, have been trying different home treatments and have even resorted to getting my hair cut short. It will be interesting to see if this has any impact on my hair.

COLOUR CLUB Poptastic Nail Polish (RRP $14.95 for 15ml); full-sized product supplied so $14.95 value: Love the colour! It looks perfect for a splash of colour to brighten up the coming winter days.

CAROL PRIEST Cherry Lip Balm (RRP $17.50 for 10ml); full-sized product supplied so $17.50 value: I’m not a fan of cherry fragrances/flavours but we’re getting closer to winter so lip balms are always welcome.

My thoughts

This month’s goodies had a retail value of around $53, so nowhere near as generous as some of the earlier boxes. I’m starting to wonder if GoodieBox is losing its shine. However, it was nice to get a few skincare products to trial and the nail polish was a pleasant surprise.

What is Goodiebox?

It’s a subscription service where you pay a monthly fee to receive a box of beauty products delivered to your door. The cost is around $30 a month (including delivery), and for that you will get a minimum of five “premium” beauty samples. These samples are generous sizes, and often there are a few full-sized products in your little box of goodies. Click here to join.
