Goodiebox, November unboxing

2013-11-preview1

From left, a cutesy sample bottle of Aveeno moisturiser, an even cutsier Hard Candy lippy, and the rather smelly Veet hair removal cream.

The November theme was “Light Summer Nights” and the box came with four full-size products, two samples and a lifestyle booster.

This month’s goodies had a retail value of around $74.75, so pretty good value for the $30 subscription cost (which includes delivery).

Here’s the rundown on my November goodies. Click on the links for full reviews of some products.

Veet Wax Strips with Easy Grip (RRP for 20 pack $17); sample pack of 8 so $6.80 value:
Waxing. Ugh. I just cannot bring myself to rip out my own hair (if you saw the video of me unearthing the contents of the November Goodiebox, you probably already know that). Note: I passed these on to a friend who does partake of ripping her various bits of body hair out by the root and she says they were fine so I guess you could say they worked as one would expect from such instruments of torture.

Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion (RRP for 345ml $19.99); 29ml sample bottle so $1.70-ish value:
Phew, something I can use! I have used this in the past and it’s actually pretty good: slap it on when you are still a bit soggy after getting out of the shower and it keeps your skin hydrated all day. It has a really smooth texture and seems to have little or no fragrance, so it won’t compete with your favourite perfume.

Veet Suprem Essence Hair Removal Cream (RRP for 90ml $14); full-size product so $14 value:
More Veet, but this time not such a painful method of hair removal. It’s meant to be for sensitive areas, according to the box.

QVS Glamour Lashes (RRP $13); $13 value:
Woohoo, these things are awesome! I managed to put them on without gluing my eyes closed or anything silly like that, and once in place I didn’t look too much like I’d stapled a couple of spiders to my eyelids. Great value and great fun.

nov-hardcandy Hard Candy Painted Lady Lipcolour  (RRP $18); $18 value:
I love the colour I was sent: very bright and chirpy. Feels nice on the lips: not heavy or dry, but not too slippery or slidey either (hate when your lip colour disappears the minute you take that first sip of your latte … now there’s a real first-world problem). The packaging is pretty awesome, too.

Burt’s Bees Res-Q Ointment (RRP for 15g $14); full-size product so $14 value:
A handy little tin of an all-purpose soothing ointment for bites, stings etc. Smells fresh and is all natural.

LIFESTYLE BOOSTER: Hydrodol (RRP for 8 capsules $14.50); 4 capsules supplied so $7.25 value:
These are supposed to ensure you don’t feel too jaded after a big night out. I don’t drink these days but will get someone to test them out for me.

More Goodiebox goodies: The painfully scary Veet wax strips, awesome QVS lashes, Burt’s Bees Res-Q Ointment and Hydrodol.

What is Goodiebox?

It’s a subscription service where you pay a monthly fee to receive a box of beauty products delivered to your door. The cost is around $30 a month (including delivery), and for that you will get a minimum of five “premium” beauty samples. These samples are generous sizes, and often there are a few full-sized products in your little box of goodies.
