Voices of the quake

Can you believe it has been three months since the devastating Canterbury quake?

Even though we didn’t have any damage here in Southland, those of us who were awake certainly felt the earthquake at 4.35am on Saturday, September 4. I have to say, it was one hell of a way to start my birthday!

At RadioLive, the first calls came in within minutes. We’re known as the Shaky Isles for good reason, so the announcer wasn’t jumping up and down with excitement after the first call but as more listeners called in to report their experiences, the gravity of the situation began to sink in.

This recording is a touch over an hour long but is a fascinating listen as the news unfolds about the country’s most devastating earthquake for several decades.
