Branded: Google hits No 1

Google it bumped Apple out of the No 1 spot in the 2005 global poll of the world’s most influential brands put together by online branding magazine Brand Channel.

The survey often gives controversial results, such as when Arabic TV station al Jazeera was ranked 5th in 2004 (25th this year).

In the latest poll, eBay-owned web phone service Skype took the No 3 spot, while coffee Starbucks and Swedish furniture chain Ikea were 4th and 5th, respectively.
